On Saturday, January 14th, the Metabolic Health Foundation held its very first Metabolic Mile event at Albert Park. Individuals of all ages joined in the fun accompanied by their furry friends, getting their steps in for the day. The event emphasised how crucial physical activity, like walking, is for our metabolic health. Walking at a brisk pace or moderate intensity is an aerobic exercise. When you do aerobic activities regularly over time, you can see many health benefits: Blood glucose (blood sugar) levels go down Insulin sensitivity goes up Heart health improves Metabolism increases Weight loss or maintenance becomes easier Blood pressure decreases HDL (“good”) cholesterol increases LDL (“bad”) cholesterol decreases Source ( https://diabetes.org/health-wellness/fitness/benefits-walking )

Whitney (27) was shocked to find out she had Gestational Diabetes through her first pregnancy, despite having no known risk factors.

We are excited to announce the launch of the

Australian Diabetes Monitoring Program.

A comprehensive diabetes monitoring program, delivered by experienced and caring Nurse Practitioners and Diabetes Educators at no out-of-pocket cost.

Understanding Our Role

The Metabolic Health Foundation is an Australian not-for-profit charity established in response to the growing prevalence of metabolic-related conditions and a lack of awareness of the crucial role the metabolic system plays in our overall health.

We are committed to reducing Australia’s health risk, through
early detection of metabolic risk factors and delivering improved management and treatment through a growing network of expert health professionals.

2 million Australians have pre-diabetes, 70% of whom will eventually develop diabetes without timely intervention.

Being overweight or obese, and other dietary risk factors accounted for 17% of Australia's total disease burden.

People with Metabolic Syndrome are 3x more likely to have a heart attack, stroke, diabetes or kidney disease.

Over 50% of Australians delayed or avoided seeing a GP or medical specialist due to cost, long waiting times or services being unavailable.
